APRIL 2007

APRIL 17, TUESDAY - The Annual Hydric Soils Workshop given by the Florida Association of Environmental Soil Scientists (FAESS) will be held Tuesday, April 17 in the St. Augustine area. I have attached the link to the website.  Please note the cost is $165 for early registration, $175 for late registration.  I am sure there is a limit to the number of attendees, so please decide as soon as possible if you would like to attend. This is excellent training for all OSTDS personnel.  If you want to attend, I suggest you  go ahead and make plans, get travel approved and then register.   There are still a lot of seats available.

This training will be held at the Columbia County Health Department.  The class material is structured for Environmental Health professionals and OSTDS contractors who work with the design of low pressure dosing systems.  Master level contractor hours will be provided for those who take a post test and achieve a passing score.

For the first time, FEHA will hold a poster session at its Annual Educational Meeting and Trade Show the week of August 6-10, 2007, at the Omni Champions Gate Resort in Orlando, Florida. Preconference will be on August 6 - 7, the main conference will be August 8 - 10, 2007

Mark your calendars to attend the 2007 Annual Educational Meeting and Trade show.  The conference will be held at the Omni Champions Gate Resort Hotel in Orlando close to Disney World.  On the property are a “Chili's” restaurant, as well as French, Japanese and Italian restaurants.

We will be celebrating FEHA’s 60th Anniversary. The 2007 FEHA AEM will be titled; "Celebrating 60 Years of Environmental Health Excellence." The conference will include many varied educational opportunities. Some of the pre-conference sessions will include; Body Piercing Update and Training, Onsite Sewage Treatment and Disposals Systems, RS Study Course and Exam, Intermediate Incident Command System ICS-300, Medical Quality Assurance Inspections, PACE EH From A – Z For Beginners and Those Seasoned and Water Well Construction. The main sessions will include; Keynote Speaker: Rob Blake, REHS, MPH, NEHA President 2007 – 2008 and Environmental Health Director of the Georgia Department of Human Resources, Agency Updates, Panel Discussion with distinguished past leaders on the origins of the Environmental Health program in Florida, Environmental Justice, Administrative Law, History of Environmental Health in America and much more. The main breakouts include; Environmental Epidemiology/Risk Assessment, Onsite Sewage Treatment and Disposal Systems, Drinking Water Programs, Food Hygiene and Safety, Community Environmental Health, Environmental Science and Ecology and Hazard and Risk Assessment.

The AEM will also offer our Awards Luncheon to Celebrate Our 60 Years. In addition, we’ll have free T - Shirts to registrants commemorating our 60 Years and many other unique features for FEHA members and conference attendees to enjoy. The RS Board is planning to sponsor a lunch or reception, and a special presentation regarding Sixty Years of FEHA History and Environmental Health in Florida will be given. A special night out, dinner/dance with band, volleyball and additional luncheons are being planned as part of the conference. This year, along with the exhibitors, a first-time Poster Session will be presented. Start thinking of what would make a great poster topic now! The interest for exhibitors is growing and this should be a record year. If you know of potential exhibitors, please have them contact the Executive Director or President for details.
