Meet our 2024 Keynote Speaker

Dr. Greg Kearney


Greg Kearney is an environmental public health professor and the founding Program Director for the Doctor of Public Health (DrPH), Environmental and Occupational Health program in the Brody School of Medicine, Department of Public Health at East Carolina University.

He holds a B.S, from East Carolina University, a MPH from University of South Florida and a Dr.PH from the University of Alabama-Birmingham.  Prior to returning home to North Carolina and moving into an academic role at his alma mater, Greg worked for the Martin County Health Department (Stuart), the State of Florida, Department of Health (Tallahassee), and the CDC, National Center of Environmental Health (Atlanta), all in environmental health programs! 

Dr Kearney has published over 75 manuscripts, 1 book and several book chapters. As a “hands on” professor, his research emphasizes practical applications for addressing important, relevant environmental public health topics.

He is Past-President of the Florida Environmental Health Association, Registered Environmental Health Professional, and longtime NEHA member and supporter.  He has received several honors and awards including, the Florida Senator Ken Pruitt Medallion of Excellence, N.C. Asthma Champion Award, and the ECU, Graduate Faculty Mentor award.

Dr Kearney is married to wife Michelle, has 2 sons (Patrick and Tanner) and enjoys learning guitar, volunteering in his community and letting his son beat him at basketball.

Professor Kearney will be speaking during our Awards Lunch on Wednesday May 8th. A ticket to the awards lunch comes with your general admission to the FEHA AEM.




2024 AEM Training Important Information

May 6th-11th 2024

Cost:

Basic Access $200: includes access to most classes & networking events (except OSTDS, Body Art, CPO & other certifications/credentials)

Unlimited Access $700: includes access to all classes & networking events. INCLUDES: CPO, OSTDS, CPO, Body Art & All other classes. Also  includes special Bonus AEM gift filled with special AEM surprises & 2 drink tickets per day.

Individual Class Registration $40-$180 per class: Only includes access to the individual class you select. DOES NOT include any other classes or any networking events. This is only a good option if you plan on only attending for 1 session and not attending any networking event or awards lunch/dinner.

Travel Justification for FEHA AEM Training

When requesting travel from the FDOH you may use this wording:

Justification for Go Travel: EH

Participation in the FL EH Association Annual Educational Training supports sharing of best practices & research findings. This training is critical to the development of EH roles and responsibilities of managing, analyzing, and interpreting EH data.

Funding Source for this Travel: Local funding and possibly Partial funding is available through FEHA

Benefit to the State:

Participants will share relevant information with staff members and departments at their CHD. The individuals will become more competent in their roles and ensure environmental public health services are carried out as required in statute (381.006).

Scholarships

FEHA is now taking applications for 2024 AEM Scholarships. Scholarship award recipients will be given admission to all classes and networking events with the exception of the CPO class and the RS Test.

FEHA is offering 2 levels of scholarships. Active Member and Student Member Scholarships.

Questions Concerning the 2023/2024 AEM Being Postponed Till May 2024

1) Will my event registration be carried over from the October Conference to the May Conference? Yes! If you have already registered, you do not need to register again. All of your info, including your payment has been transferred to the May event.

2) What happened to my hotel room reservation? All hotel rooms for October have been canceled, You need to rebook your hotel room using THIS LINK or you can call the hotel directly.

3) Can I get a refund if I am unable to attend the conference in May? YES! You just need to email Info@FEHA.org and request for your registration to be canceled  & a refund to be issued.

4) Has the agenda for the AEM changed? As of this time, everything scheduled for the October Conference is set for the May Conference. This includes the Directors Meeting, Waterborne Disease Workshop, OSTDS, CPO, Body Art, Etc. We might even add in a couple more sessions between now and then.

5) Can I adjust my registration if I want to add or subtract sessions? YES! Not a problem, just email info@FEHA.org and we will take care of that for you.

6) Is the deadline for submitting Award Nominations, Scholarships & T-Shirt Contest Entries extended? YES! We have extended all of these and you have until April 2nd 2024 to submit everything to us.

7) Will FEHA be doing anything in between now and the AEM in May? YES! We are planning some exciting activities around the state to increase our activity within the individual districts. If you have an idea for a fun and exciting district meeting please email info@FEHA.org and we can plan something in your district.

8) Will FEHA be hosting online meetings before the 2024 AEM? YES! We have some great ideas in the works, Keep an eye out for additional emails from FEHA.
